Job description :

  • Perform comprehensive electromagnetic, thermal, mechanical, and short-circuit design calculations for various types of distribution (e.g., oil-filled, dry-type, pad-mounted) and power transformers (up to Voltage 220kV/100MVA Range).
  • Develop detailed electrical schematics, winding arrangements, core designs, tank designs, and bill of materials (BOMs).
  • Utilize design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, specific transformer design tools) for 2D and 3D modeling.
  • Optimize designs for performance, cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, and material utilization.
  • Ensure designs comply with national and international standards ( IEC, ANSI/IEEE, BIS).

Job description :

  • Perform routine, type, and special tests on distribution and power transformers (up to [Specify Voltage/MVA Range, e.g., 220kV/100MVA]) as per relevant standards (e.g., IEC 60076, ANSI/IEEE C57, IS 2026).
  • Conduct various electrical tests including, but not limited to:
    • Insulation Resistance (IR) and Polarization Index (PI) tests.
    • Winding Resistance Measurement.
    • Turns Ratio (TTR) and Vector Group tests.
    • No-Load Loss and Excitation Current Measurement.
    • Load Loss and Short-Circuit Impedance Measurement.
    • Induced Overvoltage (Applied Potential) Test.
    • Impulse Voltage Test (BIL).
    • Partial Discharge (PD) Measurement.
    • Dielectric Dissipation Factor (Tan Delta) / Power Factor Test.
    • Frequency Response Analysis (FRA/SFRA).
    • Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) sampling and interpretation (if in-house facility exists).
    • Capacitance Measurement.
  • Perform mechanical and functional tests, including oil leakage tests, pressure tests, and functional checks of accessories (e.g., OLTC, fans, pumps, control cabinets).
  • Accurately record and analyze test data, identifying any deviations or non-conformities.
  • Diagnose and identify the root cause of test failures or performance issues.
  • Collaborate with the design, production, and quality teams to implement corrective actions and optimize transformer performance.
  • Assist in fault finding and investigations as required by design or production departments.
  • Prepare comprehensive and accurate test reports, including data, analysis, and conclusions.
  • Maintain detailed records of all testing activities, equipment calibration, and maintenance logs.
